London-based artist Slinkachu takes cues from everyday situations and, in plain sight, creates a new reality out of it. But without paying close enough attention, the hidden world could remain unseen. It’s easy to tune out our surroundings as we go about this journey called life, but in doing so we potentially miss out on the little details along the way and in this case – little is key.

In the realm of street art, public spaces are transformed into art studios but unlike the art we’re used to seeing on our streets, Slinkachu miniaturizes public scenarios, creating and leaving tableaux in cities around the world.

Using common items like plastic train-set figures and transforming them by cutting them up and gluing them back into specific positions, he creates reflections of the regions he photographs. Accenting them with modeling clay and painting the figures,  the miniature art installations take on the role of social commentary and humor. His latest project, Global Model Village, is a collection of photographs capturing his work against the urban backdrops of England, China, France, South Africa and other countries.
