Celebrate everything. Every escape. Every name. Every life.

On November 30, 2013, a 15-year-old Congolese boy named Matthew* escaped from the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA). Originally abducted in 2008, he had spent five years in LRA captivity.

The group he was traveling with consisted of ten fighters, seven women, and two children (Matthew and an unnamed girl). On the day of Matthew’s escape, his commander had sent two men, a woman, and the two children to find hidden weapons. They stopped to cook and while the men slept, Matthew, who was on guard duty, escaped.

Matthew will receive trauma counseling and go through a rehabilitation process before being reunited with his family.

Invisible Children is determined to bring every last abducted child home, and then celebrate each and every homecoming. Join us for #zeroLRA as we stand for nothing – no child soldiers, no killing, no war. And celebrate everything – every escape, every name, every life.
