The incident: On June 9th, an LRA group attacked the small community of Gibanda, 10 km north of Bakouma in the Central African Republic (CAR). The LRA group looted food and non-food items from several households and then reportedly proceeded to carry out a mass abduction. Thirty-one of the men, women, and children in the community were kidnapped and currently remain in captivity.

Date: June 11th
The incident:  On the evening of June 11, four suspected LRA forces looted food and non-food items from several households in the community of Ganibuda, DR Congo. After the looting the LRA group abducted a 47-year-old man and his 2 daughters—just 11 and 13 years old. The last report we received indicates they are still being held in captivity.

We don’t yet have additional details on this mass abduction CAR or the kidnapping of the father and his two daughters in DR Congo, but Invisible Children staff in the region is investigating.  We are deeply troubled that the LRA is able to continue carrying out large scale attacks on communities, devastating the livelihoods and security of so many in central Africa.
