Casual Fridays at Invisible Children’s main office in Gulu, Uganda are characterized by staff wearing a bright array of Invisible Children T-shirts. One commonly seen in our education office reads “Sports as a Tool for Mentoring” on the back.

In addition to supporting the intellectual development of young people in northern Uganda through our Legacy Scholarship Program and Schools for Schools construction projects, we have a history of using innovative ways to develop the capacity of these youth outside of the classroom. Encouraging healthy competition, stressing the importance of team building, and focusing on leadership development within the student populations at our partner institutions are just a few of the ways we engage youth after school. One of the best ways we’ve found to engage youth: playing sports.

Today’s Photo Friday captures the victor’s celebration after an Invisible Children-hosted volleyball tournament.
