We believe in the power of women to influence the world for the better. In northern Uganda, we’ve seen hundreds of women improve their communities by attaining economic stability with our Mend line and Village Saving and Loan Association, and by receiving education through our Legacy Scholarship Program and Functional Adult Literacy classes.

Not to mention, some of our biggest partners and supporters are women who have taken huge steps in advancing global efforts for justice. In light of this, we are excited to announce that Invisible Children is currently a featured charity on Pink51.com.

The new shopping website promotes products that support women-owned and led businesses. Women make up 51% of the population and account for 85% of all consumer purchases in the US (that’s $7 trillion in US consumer and business spending). Founders Ann Lawrence and Marta Ferro know how powerful this force can be, and they believe women can support each other through spending with a purpose. Their site launched this month, and they support hundreds of “Pink” businesses based on fulfillment of one of three qualifications:

–50% or more woman-owned
–Led by a female CEO or two female senior level executives

–Maintains 20% or more female board membership

When you shop at Pink51.com, you are supporting women-led businesses AND funding our efforts to bring peace in central and East Africa. Pink51 gives 10% of their profits back to organizations that promote female economic success, and we’re honored to be included as one of their charity partners.

It’s simple to get involved: join the site for free, and select Invisible Children as an organization you would like to support. Then, 10% of every purchase you make through the site will help fund our mission to end LRA violence.

Pink51 connects customers with a larger movement to support and empower women, whether in US businesses or Ugandan communities.
