Another day and another chance to meet one of our staff members in Uganda. And this one is especially exciting.

Kinyera Moses is our the Finance Officer in our Gulu, Uganda office. He first began working for Invisible Children’s Pader District office in January 2014 before switching over the Gulu a few months later.

Before joining ICU (Invisible Children Uganda), Moses was working as an accountant for a microfinance institution in Gulu. However, when he learned of the opportunity to join a team of committed individuals working tirelessly to bring an end to the Lord’s Resistance Army, he could not turn down the chance to apply.

But, even before Moses came to work with Invisible Children, he was connected to the organization. In 2006, he joined the Legacy Scholarship Program for his “A Levels” at Saint Joseph’s College Layibi and subsequently went on to university. Moses says that he has wanted to be an accountant since primary school. During his undergraduate studies, he worked hard at assignments, such as bank reconciliation statements and tax computations, that prepared him well for his work today.

“Love for my job because it has enhanced my ability to handle numbers, be highly organized ready to comply with accounting rules like in law and above all maintain good relationship with people I work with,” Moses said.

He adds that accounting really is just a combination of numbers and working well with people, making his commitment to these areas especially key.

And how about how he feels working with IC?

“I feel so happy to work for Invisible Children; an organization that supported my education since the year 2006 both financially and through mentoring. A destiny I was unable to control alone without this amazing family,” he said.

While he is always busy, Moses enjoys taking a break from work when he can. He spends time at home, plays chess and visits his garden, while chatting with friends and networking on social media. He is also an artist.

I love doing painting from nature, still life, graphics and drawing cartoons for fun. I have made so many art pieces of portraits including my own,” Moses said.

We are excited about the role education has played in Kinyera Moses’ journey, and we love having him on our team.
