Last week, we asked you to tweet at your leaders and demand that Joseph Kony be held accountable for this crimes –  and you came through. Together, you sent over 3,000 tweets. #Victory

Because election season is here, we are still waiting to hear back from many of your representatives, but we know they’ve received the message…and we’re excited to see the results of your voices.

We called on these leaders to take action throughout this year, and we’ll keep you updated as they fulfill what we’ve asked of them. But in the meantime, we’re remaining committed to our life-saving programs and strategies that are working to end the LRA conflict and bring Kony to justice.

Kony’s arrest is something we’re all dreaming about, and by using your voice last week, you got us a little bit closer to achieving that dream. Our movement thrives on hope, optimism, and the belief that our voices are powerful. Since we’re so inspired by your consistent action, I asked some of the staff what they’ll do when Kony is brought to justice. When we dare to imagine that moment, it’s hard to contain ourselves…

What will you do when Kony’s brought to justice?

“Probably cry. Or puke. Every time I imagine that moment, those are the two reactions I imagine my body having.”

–Megan Green

“I’m going to go make a baby. Because I was waiting for the moment when my child would not have to grow up in a world where Joseph Kony is still at large.”

–Chad Clendinen

“NOTIFY ALL ALUMNI WHO ARE A PART OF THIS MASSIVE VICTORY. I will also cry a lot, and buy a shit ton of champagne for this team.”

–Jessica Morris

“I’ll cry, leap for joy, and then have a panic attack over everything that needs to be done after that – in that order.”

–Jessica Goldsmith

“I’m going to fall to my knees, cry, give a prayer of thanks… then stand up, hug every single person I come in contact with for 48 hours, while all of the Invisible Children alumni and former staff members come back to the headquarters (I will hug all of them too), then we will pop champagne and dance into the night. Then I will go visit Joseph Kony at the International Criminal Court where I will kiss him on the forehead, and ask him questions, mainly, “Who hurt you?” Then my family and I will get on a plane and spend at least a month with my African family in as many villages affected by the war as possible. We will play games with the kids, and scream with the mommies and drink with the daddies… It will be a celebration of justice felt around the world.”

–Jason Russell

We believe that Kony’s arrest is important. It will set a precedent for all future warlords that the world won’t stand for their crimes anymore. Last week, you took action and proved that you believe in that moment as much as we do. Now, we want you to become part of our legacy.
