No introduction needed on this one. These are the eight songs we are feeling the most this past week, and thus the eight songs we are presenting to the world wide web on februaryTWO.

Click around and support the artists you’re feeling. As last night’s Grammys would indicate, we need to invest in quality music.

01. RUEN BROTHRS – “Aces” :: This is one of the LARGEST songs I’ve heard in a while. The chorus is begging to be screamed at Glastonbury, and I firmly believe that the Ruen Brothers will get there. The retro-rock thing is making quite the resurgence now, and it’s good to see some authenticity in that with these two.

02. CHVRCHES – “Recover” :: They’re one of my current favorite bands. This is off their next EP. Yet another banging chorus to bob along to.

03. DROWNERS – “Long Hair” :: Drowners are a cool-kid rock band from NYC fronted by model Matt Hitt. Watch the video and you’ll get what Drowners are all about.

04. SAMUEL – “Brooklyn (The Asheville Sessions)” :: Samuel is an under-looked gem from the East Coast songwriting world. His track “I Heart NY” was on every mix I made in 2010. He recently went to Asheville to record different arrangements of some of his songs, including this beautiful ballad about borough woes.

05. GUARDS – “Nightmare” :: This is the thunderous opening track off the debut (perfect) record from Guards. We interviewed lead singer Richie for our In Talks series, and now the album is rocketing to the top of our mind charts.

06. BANKS – “Before I Ever Met You” :: It’s been very cool to see this song take off this past week. It’s a dark, brutal tune that’s been receiving a lot of attention from Radio 1. We are definitely looking forward to more sounds from her.

07. YOUNG MAN – “In A Sense” :: My best friend (s/o to Alec Simonsen) will not shut up about this band, thus I feel obligated to like their music. This is the newest song from the Chicago band off their next record Beyond Was All Around Me. The build of this track is dedicated.

08. JAMES BLAKE – “Retrograde” :: No one does this type of soul. The world’s been waiting for the return of James Blake, and it was worth the wait. Great vibes.
