Cheerers at the soccer match

The fans go wild.

The friendly soccer match between the staff of Uchumi supermarket and Invisible Children Uganda (ICU) staff was neck-and-neck as both teams played with determination.

As the participating teams did their best, so did the spectators who cheered all through the game with the hope of motivating their different teams. “We go, we go,” sang the cheerers, without any intention of moving.

With eyes glued to the soccer field, we wondered what the final outcome would be, as both teams had good defense.

By the end of the first half the Uchumi team had two goals and the ICU team one goal. In the second half, ICU stepped up to the beat of the match to score another goal and catch up with Uchumi, only to see Uchumi score another two goals, raising their total number of goals to four.

As time ran out, ICU’s Denis Olunya from the Schools for Schools department scored the third goal with exactly 10 minutes remaining, leaving the ICU cheerers anxious and on their toes with hope for a possible tie between the two teams.

The friendly match ended with Uchumi winning 4-3. It was the first game for the ICU team, and there are high hopes for a big win soon.
