Today is #GivingTuesday, and we are giving away our 5th free trip to Uganda to the highest #zeroLRA fundraiser of the past two weeks. Leading the pack with $10,598 fundraised is Meredith Hoffman — an all-star fundraiser who is so pumped on fundraising that she and her team already won two Uganda trips.
In the spirit of #GivingTuesday, Meredith decided to do something that has never been done before in IC history: she gave her trip away to someone else.
The recipient of the 5th #zeroLRA Uganda trip is a legend around IC. She started advocating for Invisible Children when she was 15 years old, though the word “advocating” is a bit of an understatement.
– She has attended every Invisible Children event over the last four years.
– She has helped raise over $21,000 for Invisible Children’s programs across four different campaigns.
– She was IC club president at her high school, Buckingham Browne & Nichols School, and now at her college, Brown University.
– She has hosted an Invisible Children screening every year for four years.
– She wrote an impressive article about activism on The Huffington Post.
– She has led multiple lobby meetings with her Congressman.
– She was publicly recognized by Secretary of State John Kerry in an official address to President Obama for her incredible lobbying efforts in the landmark LRA Disarmament Bill.
Invisible Children, through the unbelievable generosity of Meredith Hoffman, is thrilled to award Jaclyn Licht with an all-expenses-paid trip to Uganda this summer.
“Jaclyn is the most humble, eager, kind, intelligent, tenacious student I’ve worked with in my four years at Invisible Children.” – Angela Diange, Student Organizations Coordinator
Congratulations, Jaclyn and Meredith! You two are an inspiration. Relive the moment where Meredith completely surprised Jaclyn:
