Much like yourself, we just returned from the holiday break. It’s been a little difficult to return to the office with San Diego being one of the only warm places in the country, but we’re committed to the work, alas here we are.
I asked my colleagues what they got up to over the break because, frankly, we have some very odd people working here and you can never actually predict what they’re doing. Naturally, that translated to: what did you read or watch when you weren’t with your family.
Here’s what they did over our break:
NOELLE WEST // Communications Director
I discovered this master woodworker from the UK on YouTube and began to watch every single one of his videos. I also saw Dallas Buyers Club, a movie about Matthew McConaughey being skinny (save your money) and it reminded me of how good the documentary How to Survive a Plague was and that every human should watch it.
JASON RUSSELL // Chief Creative Officer
I binged on Homeland, read Damn Good Advice, and started reading the Harry Potter books to my son Gavin.
ANGELA DIANGE // Club Coordinator
I rented a Duffy boat and “Duffied” around Balboa Island, was a bridesmaid in Chicago for NYE, and escaped the wrath of Winter Storm Hercules. Nonstop fun.
AZY GROTH // Lead Writer
I read The Cuckoo’s Calling, The Streets of Laredo, Kings of the Earth, The Knife of Never Letting Go, and House of Sand and Fog. And learned all about the NATO Phonetic Alphabet.
CARL STEVENS // Social Media Strategist
I went on birthright to Israel where I visited the Western Wall, road a camel with Bedouins, learned that I still can’t grow a proper beard, covered myself in mud and floated in the Dead Sea, made close friends, and called a new country home. I learned that I still have a lot to learn.
ANGELO IGNACIO // Email Marketing Coordinator
I went hiking with my family back home in LA, enjoyed home cooked Filipino food (none of my half-assed fusion), and played my share of video games for 2014.
KRISTA MORGAN // Staff Writer
I crushed the Divergent series. If you’re in the mood for 1,500 large font pages of teenage-angst futuristic action, I highly recommend it.
ALEX NASER-HALL // Me
I had an allergic reaction on NYE, watched this amazing web series called Whatever This Is, stalked YouTube vloggers JacksGap, and started/decided to stop reading several books.

There it is, then. The Invisible Children staff is just like you – they pretty much only watch movies over the holiday break, too. But we’re back now, and ready to get to it once more. Here’s to a productive 2014, y’all.
Think people should hear about this?
