yaaaaa

It’s Monday. Yeah…we feel it. And while you may have a natural inclination to lean towards a more mellow listening selection, why not shake it up a bit? Today’s mixtape is meant to amp you up for the coming week and get you inspired. With its combo of energy (it’s Monday people– wake up!) and catchiness, it’ll give you some much needed feel-goods.

01. THE JUNGLE GIANTS – “Skin to Bone” :: “Eat it up / It’s good for you”…heed to the advice given by the opening lyrics and swallow this track whole. Vibrant guitar riffs and lyrical timeliness spliced with jolts of rock-and-roll. This song is a go-to for a morning boost (and who doesn’t need that, eh?).

02. WEKEED – “Lorde Vs. Flume – Sleepless Club” :: We’ve covered Lorde and we’ve covered Flume. Now, here’s a fresh mash-up (keyword being: fresh) created by WEKEED. It’s super cool because: A. it brings together two of our favorites and B. considering the amount of unharmonious collaborations floating around, this in-sync tune is quite invigorating.

03. CRYSTAL FIGHTERS – “Love Natural” :: Sunshine, ice-cream, bonfires…. This song, from the overall summer carnival-esque album “Cave Rave”, fits right into that list of cliche bubbly things.

04. CLOUD CONTROL – “Scar” :: This Aussie band knows where it’s at. Don’t let the deep lyrics and slower intro fool you, “Scar” is packed with energy and a powerful chorus that glimmers like a shiny lollipop.

05. MYSTERY JETS – “Show Me the Light” :: Whether you love a good synth-induced dance track or are an indie-pop skeptic, it’s hard to deny that the consistent drops and tempo-rises throughout this song keep you engaged. At the very least, you’ll listen all the way through. At the very most, it will become that addictive “on repeat” song.

06. J. RODDY WALSTON – “Heavy Bells” :: Revved up enough for something a bit more jolting? This song starts with a steady beat but after about a minute in prepare yourself for some heavier rockin’. Its still a feel-good track, but has a bit of an edge to it. And the lyrics imply – as I did earlier – “You’re gonna wake up, You’re gonna wake up, You’re gonna wake up!”.
