For the first Monday Mixtape of April I present you with some exciting discoveries. All these tracks are unique in their own way– though they all have a bit of dreaminess to them. So glide into the fresh week, and the fresh month, with some fresh tunes.
01. SIREN – I Think I Like You :: If you catch this one you wont let it go. That’s because this new LA duo has nailed the recipe for the perfect pop gem. Combining pretty vocals, a killer hook, steady drumbeats, and some more introspective lyrics, the final result is hypnotic. It leaves you dazed yet grounded at the same time. Keep an eye on these ladies.
02. Spark Alaska – Aloe Vera :: “Aloe Vera” is acoustic without being rustic. The humble singing and strumming is both ethereal and raw. Sweet as well as sad. Prepare for a reminiscent mood.
03. The Deloreans – As Long As It’s You :: When this track starts off it has that dark post-punk sound á la The Cure. As it progresses it rocks out a bit more. It’s broody and elegant in the best possible way.
04. Beaty Heart – Banana Bread :: It’s hard not to like this one. “Banana Bread” is experimental in its simplicity level, while the eclectic vocal and instrumental accents throughout create a lovely texture that’s quite charming.
05. Passenger – Circles (Elkoe Remix) :: This remix takes the original song and turns it into a daydream. With an echo effect and added electricity, the track loses some of its folk and gains some vivaciousness. I can’t get enough.
06. Landlady – Above My Ground :: It builds slow, leading up to a psychedelic sound that’s accompanied by very present guitars and awesomely discordant vocals.
