The Artist Relations program partnered with prominent and rising musicians to introduce new audiences to the LRA conflict. This involved multiple national tours each year, benefit concerts, and creative fundraising activities. We firmly believe that music has and will always be a powerful tool for social movements. It is a universal language, and at Invisible Children, it’s important for us to speak that language.
WHAT WE DO
The most fitting example of how the Artist Relations department supported Invisible Children’s mission and ethos is found in the story of how we built a friendship with British folk superheroes Mumford & Sons, after using their song “Timshel” in a memorial video for Nate Henn, an Invisible Children employee who was killed in a terrorist attack in Kampala in 2010. A close friend of Nate’s, and fellow Invisible Children employee, Hannah Jones, wrote a message to Mumford member Ben Lovett about the impact that the band’s music had on the healing process of the Invisible Children community after Nate’s death.
