Gum Saan is a fine quality Asian imports store located in Old Town San Diego Historic Park. This past summer they acquired a large green Buddha which they positioned outside of their shop. To their surprise, their patrons started showering the Buddha with coins and rubbing his belly for luck. The people of Gum Saan felt that those funds needed to go to a worthy cause, and imagine our delight when they chose Invisible Children to be the first to receive from the Benevolent Buddha fund.

They have pledged to give away all the funds raised through the Benevolent Buddha to a different deserving organization every time the Buddha gets full. Not only is their selflessness an amazing portrayal of generosity, but also a reminder to pay it forward. The next time you are in or around San Diego, you should stop in to shower the Buddha with coins and rub his belly. He just might pay it forward.
