Crisis Action is an international, non-profit organization that works behind the scenes with civil society organizations to develop strategies that inform policymakers about how to stop conflict and protect civilians on the ground. Invisible Children has teamed up with them in the past, and we were delighted to hear that they are the recipient of the prestigious MacArthur Foundation’s Award for Creative and Effective Institutions for 2012.
This much coveted Award is given to a select group of innovative organizations to enable them to grow effectively and sustainably. The Award comes at an opportune time as ending armed conflict is among the most pressing and most difficult challenges for concerned citizens and policymakers. Along with the prize of recognition and adoration, the Award is accompanied by a gift of $750,000 which will help Crisis Action move into its next phase of development by building an operating reserve.
We extend a huge congratulations to Crisis Action on this achievement and look forward to their groundbreaking strides in ensuring that governments uphold their obligations to protect civilians in conflicts from Sudan to Syria, Ivory Coast to Iran.
