What does music have anything to with catching Kony? Everything. Good musicians are our modern day poets; challenging us to think deeper. Lyrics can heal personal wounds just as much it can drive a worldwide revolutionary movement. That’s why our music department has been touring for the past 6 years with supporting bands to help raise awareness and fund life-saving programs.
Here’s an update from our current music tour with Delta Spirit and Waters:
Hey everybody. Aaron Bradshaw and Matt Pack here. We just arrived in Boston for Day 8 of the Delta Spirit/Waters tour. We drove 12-hours last night to get to the venue on time. With all the sing-a-longs and games of Draw Something between the bands’ crews it felt like it was the quickest drive of my life. This is, by far, one of the most incredible tours I’ve ever been out on. The guys in both Delta Spirit and Waters have taken us in like family. Matt and I feel like we are as essential to the tour as the band itself.
The most amazing thing has been the response and love we are getting from the people who swing by our merch table during the show.
Matt and I have been engaged in some highly in-depth conversations about all that is going on at Invisible Children, the world, global justice, etc. These conversations are so vital for helping people understand our true mission and goals. Granted, they are as challenging as they are rewarding, but that’s point. We’re learning how to be better global citizens and that includes learning from each other’s life experiences. The good, the bad, and the absolutely (beautifully) moronic.
Besides having life-changing-worldview-altering conversations, we’re also raising money for our programs. Including offering the siiiiick official tour poster, designed and hand-screened by our best friends Alex and Chadwick. We struggling to keep them in stock so be sure to get to the table early if you are wanting to get your hands on these one of a kind memorabilia. (Did we mention some are autographed too?)
This tour has been one of the best times of my life so far and we aren’t even half way through! Please come by the table, say hi and show love for the Invisible Children family (as well as the amazing people in Delta Spirit and Waters). Thanks and see you at the show!
