Take your dog to work day – the annual day where you can have your four-legged friend accompany you to work. For some people, they wait for this day all year long. And today is the day [enter roar of applause from employees everywhere].
Fun fact: Invisible Children is full of dog lovers and half of our staff own their own furry friends. You can often catch them trying to sneak their pets into the building (really…like twice a week). Thus, there are many advantages that come along with this special day, whether it is the stress level reduction it imposes in the environment, the overall friendly demeanor the animals present, or the comfort of knowing that your best friend is slumbering two feet away nibbling on your meeting notes. I mean, haven’t you ever felt like you need a “paws” at work in the middle of your day?
If your building doesn’t allow dogs (IC building…cough cough…) then just take an example from the most powerful man in the world and simply…bring them anyway:
And if you have a dog and you’re enduring the current heat wave on the East Coast, we’re thinking of you and your cuddly companion.
(For more canines determined to fight the heat, click here….you’re welcome.)
This day is a wonderful way to celebrate man’s best friend and make way for the recognition of the human-canine bond. If nothing else, the presence of a few playful pooches will leave your office howling with laughter, which in case you haven’t heard is the best medicine for a long work day.
