Sometimes you just want to get away. India, perhaps. Maybe ride on a motor-rickshaw with your three best friends across 2500+ miles of rough Indian terrain in the span of 2 weeks. Not your cup of tea? Just our graphic designer Drew Schafer, then? Good to know.
Drew is partaking in The Rickshaw Run. Yes, it’s a thing. 3500 kilometers, 145cc engine, three wheels, benefiting one charity. FRANK water has been the official charity of almost every edition of the Rickshaw Run since 2007. They specialize in funding clean water projects in India with a focus on removing bacteria, viruses & chemicals using different types of filters.
Drew and his friends (official team name “Team Holy Cowabunga“) are raising money for their adventure. They have made it easy to donate in $5 increments by buying a sticker that Drew designed himself. So creative, that one.
Why on Earth would they willingly do this? In their own words…”Our participation in this adventure is driven by our passion to help others and make a difference. We relying strongly on the support, sponsorships and donations of people like you. Please join us as we rally together for a worthy cause and take the leap into an adventure of a lifetime.”
Check out their Holy Cowabunga website where you can read all about the hows & whys of this endeavor, and come January, remember to check back to read their blog as they document their adventures.
The Rickshaw Run is the brainchild of The Adventurists, a UK-based travel company that tempts thrill-seeking folks to join them in “fighting to make the world less boring.” The Rickshaw Run takes place three times a year in India, rotating its start and end points between Shillong, Jaisalmer and Fort Kochi.
Maybe Drew will see you there. I’ll be in the comfort of my own home cheering them on from my couch.
Think people should hear about this?
