“No one is useless in this world
who lightens the burdens of another.”
― Charles Dickens
In times of tragedy, it is the responsibility of mankind to step up and help their neighbor. In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, people from all over the world are assisting the victims in any way they can. It’s downright inspiring. How can we all get involved and help out? We’ve investigated and found some answers.
First, check out National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster to find effective organizations in your area that are helping with relief efforts. They can let you know if they’re looking for volunteers or other specific ways you can help.
Donate money, food and/or supplies. We came across these gems who are helping those affected by Hurricane Sandy – Community Foodbank of New Jersey, Direct Relief International, International Rescue Mission, and Breezy Pt. Sandy Relief.
Give blood. Thousands of blood banks were cancelled/closed because of the Hurricane. Reach out to your local hospital or health clinic for specific needs.
When in doubt, major organizations leading aid efforts to the devastated areas are the American Red Cross, The Salvation Army, and the United Way.
Every little bit helps – whether it be time, money, food or supplies. Together, we can lighten the burdens of another. Humanity unite!
