Mitt and Obama

Remember that presidential campaign?

Even though the race was plagued with disagreements, it looks like lunch is something the former opponents could agree on.

Meeting around 12:30 on Thursday afternoon, the former Republican nominee Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama shared lunch, their first meeting after the heated election.

According to the Washington Post, press were barred from the meal.

“Each man wanted to have a private conversation,” White House press secretary Jay Carney said when asked why the news media were not allowed to witness the lunch. “They did not want to turn it into a press event.”

The only thing we have about this meeting is a statement released by the White House: “The focus of their discussion was on America’s leadership in the world and the importance of maintaining that leadership position in the future. They pledged to stay in touch, particularly if opportunities to work together on shared interests arise in the future.”

What I wouldn’t give to have been a fly on the oval office wall.
