[Invisible Children Music: We firmly believe that music has a necessary role in giving social movements tremendous amounts of momentum. It is a universal language, and at Invisible Children, it’s important for us to be a part of that language.]

A longtime legend in the music festival circuit, CMJ Music Marathon has set the precedent in booking some of the best new and unheard talent, many of which have become household names. Artists like Arcade Fire (2004), Feist (2005), Mumford & Sons (2009), and Gotye (2011) have all benefited from CMJ’s ability to help launch successful careers. Every fall, they take over New York City with 1,300 bands performing in about eighty venues across the city in every borough.

For the third year in a row, Invisible Children worked closely with the organizers of the festival in order to further tell the story of those affected by the LRA. On October 18, we hosted a private showcase at the legendary Jalopy Theater, presented by our good friends from Bandsintown. With Moon Casale (The Shivers), The Last Bison, and The White Buffalo performing, the purpose of the event was to continue raising support and awareness for our year-long KONY 2012 campaign.

Before the artists performed their sets in full, they played a special acoustic performance to be shared with all of those who couldn’t make it out to Red Hook that evening. Here’s Jake from The White Buffalo. Enjoy.
