Here’s a little something warm and fuzzy for your Wednesday. And, no, it’s not a photo series of small animals (but feel free to send those our way).

Joe’s Place, a youth center in Moose Jaw, Canada, landed on our radar when they previously raised $42,000 over two years for Invisible Children. Their creative efforts backed the rebuild of one of our partner schools in northern Uganda and made Joe’s Place our top North American fundraiser. So it was a no-brainer for us to personally invite the fundraising rockstars to our Fourth Estate Leadership Summit this August. The only problem is Moose Jaw is 1677.081 miles away from Los Angles, and airfare in 2013 isn’t chump change.

Joes Place

This roadblock seemed impassable, so the team at Joe’s Place called us up to decline the invitation. They were devastated, and so were we.

Enter in an anonymous hero (we prefer to visualize this person as a masked vigilante, but it’s up for interpretation). This humble citizen cut a check for $8,500, completely funding the airfare for 11 students and 4 chaperones to Los Angeles.

Thanks to the open-handedness of one person, fifteen people will be seated in Royce Hall this August learning how to turn the world upside down for good. Talk about a positive return on investment.

If you are interested in suiting up to be a budding leader’s masked vigilante, you can contribute to Fourth Estate Summit Scholarship fund HERE.
