‘Tis the season to count your blessings.
1) Selfie, twerk, srsly, and FOMO were officially added to the Oxford English Dictionary.
Along with jorts, buzzworthy, and food baby.
2) Parks and Recreation star Nick Offerman published his first book.
Finally, we can learn the art of manliness from the manliest of mustached men.
3) And speaking of manly men, Ryan Gosling referred to his muscles as pets.
“After a while they’re like pets because they don’t do anything useful. But you have to feed them and take care of them otherwise they’ll go away. I feel a bit goofy having them, to tell you the truth.” Seriously, I’m not making this stuff up.
4) Malala Yousafzai reminded us of all that is good in human nature.
After being shot by the Taliban for advocating the rights of girls to education, 16-year-old Malala from Pakistan has become a global figure of activism with wisdom and courage beyond her years. “Here I stand, one girl among many,” she said. “I raise my voice… so that those without a voice can be heard.” The youngest-ever nominee for the Nobel peace prize, Malala’s new book I Am Malala is the latest testament to her extraordinary life.
5) One Direction dropped a new album.
It’s called Midnight Memories, and the album lives up to its hype. Once again, they sound as good as they look.
6) Buzzfeed took over the Internet.
Everything they write is gold. And so spot-on. My personal favorite? “Hot Dog Legs.”
7) Jennifer Lawrence. The end.
Every girl’s role model and every guy’s dream.
8) The Rewards for Justice Bill was signed into law.
In January, President Obama signed a bill called Rewards for Justice that offers up to $5 million for information that leads to the capture of Joseph Kony, one of the world’s worst criminals.
9) The Golden Retriever puppy cam.
And if you thought watching puppies couldn’t get any better, just know that these dogs are being raised to become service dogs.
10) Miley Cyrus
Did you really think I could get through this list without mentioning Miley? Whether you love her or hate her, you’ve gotta admit that “Wrecking Ball” is stuck in your head 96% of the day. You’ve also probably either thought of her or talked about her every day since that VMA performance.
And because 10 things isn’t enough….
11) Miley Cyrus, Nicolas Cage edition.
The only thing better than Miley on wrecking ball is Nick Cage as Miley on a wrecking ball.
Think people should hear about this?
