Inspiration at Invisible Children can sometimes seem like a river that never runs dry. Motivating stories, quotes, movies and books are more often than not floating around our office, and revitalizing the way we see the world. However, with the coming and going of fads, Maya Angelou has, season after season, remained a very special and unique influence at Invisible Children.

Maya Angelou was a poet, an activist, an actress, a film director, a dancer and above all else a revolutionary. She wrote passionately and honestly about her life. She pushed us. She moved us. And she taught us what it means to authentically share a narrative – a skill that we have incorporated into our work with storytelling.

Maya Angelou was not only influential with her literature but with her life. We could never thank her enough for her influence and the motivation she has caused in this office. Her life and legacy will continue on at Invisible Children through the impact she has had on the people inside these walls.
