Students at Pabo Secondary School were participating in track and field activities on Thursday. These athletic event are a way of helping students embrace their potential outside of the classroom, learn lessons in teamwork and foster a sense of healthy and productive competition.
This photo Friday, we are sharing the school’s motto – “Enter to Learn, Depart to Serve.” It was emblazoned on the colorful t-shirts that many students wore during the events. Serving their communities is exactly what many of our Legacy Scholarship Program mentees plan to do upon their graduation from secondary school.
A number of students who attend Pabo are currently supported by Invisible Children. They all have big dreams of working in careers where they can give back to their communities. Their future plans include studying hard in order to become a doctor, a lawyer or a nurse, among others. These professions are desperately needed in northern Uganda. A limited number of doctors and nurses often serve large populations, especially in rural communities. Plus, the lasting impact of the region’s civil war has led many families and communities to face legal challenges, often related to complicated issues such as land grabbing and domestic violence.
In cases like this, a well-trained doctor of lawyer can make all the difference in someone’s future welfare.
Think people should hear about this?
