Today, we celebrate being part of a great country that believes in freedom for all. Since the beginning, our nation has declared that all people have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Together we’ve made incredible progress toward making those universal rights a reality, but there is still a lot to be done.
Here at Invisible Children, we agree that every life has equal and inherent value. We believe that these ideals transcend borders; where you live shouldn’t determine whether you live.
Our Independence Day is a strong reminder that our brothers and sisters in central Africa are not able to fully pursue life, liberty and happiness, because they are living in constant fear of being attacked by the Lord’s Resistance Army.
Our team is working around-the-clock with local leaders to protect communities from LRA violence, and we’ve never been closer to seeing a permanent end to Joseph Kony’s forces. We are convinced that every person deserves to live in safety, and we are dedicated to continue our work until every LRA soldier returns home. Freedom is always something to celebrate, and it’s also worth fighting for.
Think people should hear about this?
