We seriously have the best supporters, and 16-year-old Olivia Snow is a great example. Her local paper in New Jersey picked up her story first, but we wanted to show off her support of Invisible Children, too.

When she saw a “Tony” screening in 8th grade, she was inspired to get involved. Throughout high school, Olivia and her friend Hannah set up more screenings, which motivated their classmates to raise awareness. Her school’s support gained momentum in Kony 2012, and Olivia organized a group for MOVE:DC in just two weeks. Last year, Olivia and Hannah raised $1,535 for our #zeroLRA fundraising campaign. Every day for two months, they sold bracelets outside their cafeteria and walked around asking for spare change. Bake sales and a Christmas raffle were among their other funding strategies.

We love Olivia’s motivation behind it all:

“I think teenagers should care about global justice because everyone on this planet deserves a good and happy life. Where you live should not matter whether you have a safe life or not. I really believe that teenagers have more power than they think to help end injustices. If something is not fair you should try your hardest to help change it.

The most important thing to do is step out of your comfort zone and go talk to someone about Invisible Children and Joseph Kony. Let people know what is going on. Nothing is going to result from sitting at your computer watching Invisible Children movies and feeling bad. You have to go out and do something.

Before Invisible Children, I sort of turned a blind eye to problems. Now, I really think it is important to do something about them. I think it is important to work hard for what you’re passionate about and you will have results that surprise you.”

We couldn’t agree more. We know that young people have a voice and can make a difference in the world, because we’ve seen it happen time and time again. Invisible Children runs on the creativity and dedication of people like Olivia, and we wouldn’t be here without their support.

young people have power to influence the world for justice. get involved by supporting our life-saving programs.
