At Invisible Children, we believe that music is a universal language that has the ability to move social movements. Hearing music sparks something inside you that moves you to do something.
This morning, Danish singer/songwriter MØ released a video discussing how music has moved her and why honesty in her music is so important.
Honesty in anything we do is crucial to our success. Invisible Children co-founder, Jason Russell, spoke to us yesterday morning as we sent off our Fall roadies and reminded us that what is right and true is not always popular. There will always be someone who finds fault in what you do, but cynicism can be killed while hope will always remain. She says “go with your feeling. Then at least you can look at yourself in the mirror if people turn out to not like it.”
Music has the ability to bring hope and light into the hardest situations. It makes you think and changes something inside of you, even if just for a few short minutes. As MØ says, music “changes something inside of [her], it has made [her] happy, believe in [herself], or want to change stuff.” Music brings us all together in some way, and that is why we continue to use music in this movement. To bring truth to people, to ignite a change within someone’s life, but most importantly, to motivate people to make a change in the world.

Think people should hear about this?
