There’s nothing better than getting a good music tip from a friend you both respect and trust. We’ve actually been able to work alongside said friend, Jay Harren, for the last few years at Invisible Children. Jay now runs a record label out of NYC called Descendant Records [The Lone Bellow, Satellite], so his instinct about new music is good.
Welcome Grace London to the Invisible Children Music Blog. As a shockingly talented 13 year old songwriter from Austin, it’s easy to recognize the local and national influences in her newest EP, Rocketship Girl. With guitar tones resembling the likes of Gary Clark Jr., vocal melodies that remind me of Regina Spektor and gritty rock ‘n roll interludes that would make Jack White turn his head, I’m convinced she has a long and successful career ahead of her. I mean, she won’t even be able to legally drive a vehicle for 3 more years…
If you aren’t impressed yet, it turns out that she’s philanthropic. Grace is committed to using her music to fight extreme poverty in Africa, already raising over $35,000 to do her part. #impressive
