music-the-lone-bellow.jpeg-1280x960Sometimes, a simple message can be the most moving. Brooklyn-based trio, The Lone Bellow, has a knack for pairing strong emotional lyrics along with an addictive folk sound. Their song “I Let You Go” continues in that tradition, sending a powerful blow right to the feels.

Packing some serious sadness, the lyrics, “I let you go, and hoped you’d come back, hoped you’d come back to me” are sung in a tone that fluctuates and builds with honesty and emotion. Even more revealing is the contrast in the lyrics to an older song ‘Looking For You’ in which lead singer, Zach Williams, sings a determined “I’m not letting you go again, not letting this story end”.

The video is styled in a similar fashion to a home movie, cutting between images of the trio performing in a studio and their lives outside of it. Allowing listeners to lose themselves in the music and find themselves in the lyrics, The Lone Bellow may just cut to the core of you.
