Get ready to be blown away. And feel empowered, inspired, and slightly lazy.

This weekend, twenty-year-old Cody Marsh from Shepherdstown, West Virginia will start a solo 20-day, 211-mile hike on the John Muir Trail…barefoot. Cody works at Two Rivers Treads, which promotes efficient and natural running and walking form, and plans to incorporate his passion for a barefoot lifestyle during his adventure. It gets more interesting: this young man isn’t just spreading the word on behalf of a natural lifestyle – he is also fundraising for Invisible Children while doing it.

After seeing Machine Gun Preacher and learning of KONY 2012 in a college communications class, Cody had an epiphany. Every summer Cody takes an end-of-summer trip, and this year he decided to dedicate his journey to LRA-affected communities. Cody went door-to-door raising funds, and people have donated pledges for every mile he walks. We are humbled by his selflessness and fully appreciate his passion for adventure and purpose.

“By choosing to donate all of my money from fundraising to Invisible Children, I am really just trying to say thank you. Thank you for shedding light on a situation that can no longer be overlooked. Thank you for being the first exposure to the LRA and Kony, and giving me the inspiration to get up and do something about it. Invisible Children fulfilled it’s mission by reaching out and touching my emotions that one spring day in communications class and this is my way of contributing back. I know Invisible Children will be able to most effectively use my donation and the donations from others to make a positive change in the Central African region.” – Cody Marsh
