[Invisible Children Music: We firmly believe that music has a necessary role in giving social movements tremendous amounts of momentum. It is a universal language, and at Invisible Children, it’s important for us to be a part of that language.]

This past week has been a strange one. San Diego had multiple days with 100+ degree temperatures, and I am not a supporter. I stayed indoors and scoured the ‘webs even harder to find the perfect ten tracks for this mix. It’s doubling as a travel compilation for a trip to Chicago later this week – hence the cover featuring my strange director friend Michael.

Check the links to support the artists. It’s important to do that. Let us know on twitter @invisible_music what your favorite tracks are.

Download the mix [HERE].

01. IO ECHO – “Carnation” // Io Echo are a sincerely cool new band from LA. I said that this song could be in a John Hughes adaptation of Carrie, and I stand by that.

02. LEVEK – “Girl In The Fog” // David Levesque’s debut album comes out at the end of this month, and I can’t get enough of this song. It’s on some weird Simon & Garfunkel level that I can’t actually wrap my head around.

03. EVERYTHING EVERYTHING – “Cough Cough” // This group is storming back with their new song.

04. BAT FOR LASHES – “Marilyn” // The Haunted Man is approaching, which is healthy because I physically cannot wait much longer. This song about Miss Monroe will hold me over, I suppose.

05. SAINT LOU LOU – “Maybe You (CFCF Remix)” // Nostalgia pop at its finest from these Swedish twins.

06. DISCLOSURE + SAM SMITH – “Latch” // This has to be one of my favorite songs this year. Disclosure have been crushing it for a while, but this is by far their “aha moment.” It’s a staple on any playlist I go for in the evening hour.

07. NICKY BLITZ – “Blast Off” // Steel drum splendor. I feel pretty breathless after this one.

08. THE VACCINES – “Teenage Icon” // This album is my ideal blend of pessimism and realism.

09. BASTILLE – “Flaws” // We wrote about this song last week, and we’re not going to be over it for a while.

10. AZURE RAY – “Scattered Like Leaves” // So excited to have Azure Ray back. Their new stuff takes their sound into a whole other zone.

Until next week, all.
