AU: African Union
A union consisting of 54 African states. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco.

central Africa
Includes Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC or DR Congo), Central African Republic (CAR), Sudan, South Sudan, Chad, etc. DOES NOT include Uganda.

EU: European Union
An economic and political union of 27 member states which are located primarily in Europe.

IDP: Internally Displaced Person
People who have been forced to leave their homes and relocate within their home country. These are not refugees.

IDP camps: Internally Displaced Person Camps

The Ugandan government forced communities in northern Ugandan in to IDP camps to protect them from the LRA, but the camps were crowded, disease-ridden and violent places. Ugandans started returning home in 2008 and 2009 when the LRA left Uganda. At the height of the conflict, 1.7 million people were internally displaced.

UN: United Nations
An international organization founded in 1945 after the Second World War by 51 countries committed to maintaining international peace and security, developing friendly relations among nations and promoting social progress, better living standards and human rights.
