On Wednesday night, Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks was featured on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. While his main duty was to promote his new movie “Cloud Atlas,” Hanks offered up something unexpected: a spoken word performance about “Full House.”
Yes, the man famous for portraying a castaway, astronaut and prison guard took to the stage with only a mic and got quite poetic about the 90’s sitcom. Hanks embodied a stereotypical poet right down to the black turtleneck sweater, thin mustache, and cool-yet-poignant cadence.
Sometimes called Poetry Slam, spoken word is performance poetry where the participant recites a poem, usually making it up as he or she goes, and is occasionally accompanied by a jazzy beat.
