We want you to be as informed as possible about MOVE:DC. Every ounce of information we have can be found on our website but sometimes you just want to watch a video to learn all the hows & whys (provided above). And sometimes you want the staff writer to write a blog about the details (provided below). Watchers & readers unite.

What is MOVE:DC?

On November 17th, thousands upon thousands of us are going to rally in Washington DC. World leaders have made promises about stopping the LRA, but the LRA is still attacking civilians and abducting children. We are showing our world leaders that we haven’t forgotten about their promises by traveling to Washington, DC, and telling them ourselves. If we can work together, persevere, and follow through–so can they.

A Washington March example from August 28, 1963. Dream big, people.

This is our generation’s chance to represent what we care about, which is that all human life is equal, and if you’re a child soldier, we will stand beside you and demand that leaders do something. We are convening a meeting called the Global Summit on the LRA. We have invited ten international leaders to come together in DC and present to us their plan to stop the LRA once and for all.

How do I get there?

Plane, train, automobile, bicycle, canoe, skateboard, walk, run, rollerskate.

If you want to fly, we have found that Kayak.com and Southwest.com have pretty good deals. Carpooling is also a fun way to travel. Make it a roadtrip. We have created official roadtrip routes and meet-up spots on our website. To let everyone who plans to attend get to know each other beforehand, as well as be able to ask questions, plan carpools, and talk shop, we have made official MOVE:DC Facebook pages for U.S. supporters & for international supporters. You’ll find up-to-the-minute details and tips.

Where do I sleep?

We are doing our best to find facilities with free floors for people to sleep on the night of Friday, Nov. 16th. We cannot guarantee sleeping accommodations on any other nights. You don’t want to sleep on a cement floor with a sleeping bag? Good news: The Washington Metro goes straight to the convention center where we’re meeting so we’ve found the cheapest hotels in the area & put them on our website.

What do I bring?

The most important thing to bring: your KONY 2012 T-shirt. We’ll be wearing them while we march. We want to make the White House see red (literally.) Don’t have a shirt yet? Buy one here. Or go to Goodwill and buy a plain red shirt and make one. We encourage DIY crafts.

As November in DC may be a little chilly (or a lot chilly – what do we know? We live in San Diego), please pack warm clothes. Dress comfortably & professional-ish. Bring a backpack. Bring snacks to stop you from being cranky. And don’t forget a sleeping bag and pillow. Oh, and spending money.

Honorable mentions

You must register in order to attend MOVE:DC. After you register, you can download the free ticket that will get you into the event.

On the night of Nov 17th we have planned the ultimate dance party. We’re talking lasers, smoke, DJ’s, celebrities, neon lights, and glow sticks. We’re calling it Global Dance Night. Why? Because people from all over the world are going to be in one room sweating, celebrating, and dancing. The coming of a new era is upon us – one that signifies caring about each other, standing up for each other, and doing what’s right.

When in doubt, please know that our Movement Dept is here for you. You can contact them at (619) 562-2799 or email them at [email protected] with any and all questions or concerns regarding MOVE:DC. We want there to be no obstacles prohibiting you from making it to DC. Help us help you.
