Since January of 2011, Invisible Children has been working diligently with its partners to establish the very first rehabilitation center in DR Congo focused on LRA-affected youth. Centre Elikya is currently in its final phase of construction, and serving 53 youth with psychosocial treatment.

Meet Alphonse, a Central African nurse who traveled to Dungu to shadow the psychologist and psychosocial team at Centre Elikya. Alphonse is a nurse at a health centre in Djemah, CAR, and actively provides healthcare for needy youth and adults who have returned from captivity with the LRA.

Alphonse will be spending two weeks in Dungu learning about best practices for youth psychosocial care. He is very keen to develop his knowledge of the trauma symptoms exhibited by the different age groups, and of the different therapies prescribed for these age groups. He has already had the opportunity to interact with the staff and observe their work at Centre.
