While Americans were eating turkey (or tofu turkey) on Thanksgiving day, many documented the day with that very popular smart phone app, Instagram.

Users of the social media platform uploaded over 10 million Thanksgiving-themed photos. Getting logistics by using the captions, Instagram was able to track the millions of Thanksgiving-related posts. According to the bell graph above, about 226 photos per second were being uploaded with a tie to the holiday.

Instagram reported that “the number of shared photos more than doubled from the day before, making it our busiest day so far.”

We were not immune to the Instagram craze last Thursday. After an especially moving weekend (MOVE:DC anyone?), there was just so much to be thankful for – teammates, friends, family, and togetherness.

@hajohnso: A very Invisible Children Thanksgiving and a room full of love and good smells

After driving the thousands of miles from Washington DC back to San Diego, a reunion took place as most Roadies and interns arrived the night before. Our Thanksgiving feast was our first meal together after the fall tour ended. We dined on the holiday norms – turkey, mashed potatoes, and stuffing – and caught up after the whirlwind of our awesome weekend.

After the meal, in true IC fashion, we folded up the tables to make room for a mini dance party. A day traditionally reserved  for pumpkin pie and football ended with sweat and Beyonce.

I hope your Thanksgiving was just as special as mine.
