Last week became very official when we welcomed new members to our Board of Directors (aha, Charity Navigator!) during the first meeting of 2013.
We had a lovely lunch, some casual getting-to-know-you-non-romantic speed dating, and fruitful meetings of the minds. It went well.
Meet our newly renovated Board of Directors:
Darren Hardy //
Publisher and Editing Director of SUCCESS magazine, as well as the author of bestseller The Compound Effect. He sits on the board of several companies and nonprofits, but we choose to believe that IC is his favorite.
Kari Stoever //
Vice President of External Affairs at Aeras – a global nonprofit biotech developing new generation tuberculosis vaccines. She has more than 15 years of experience leading all aspects of nonprofit and research initiatives. She was the Principal Investigator on a $34 million grant by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and has been active in the Clinton Global Initiative since its inception.
Rich McCullen //
Founder and Lead Pastor of Missiongathering Christian Church. He is known as a progressive Christian thinker and is committed to speaking out for those who are discriminated against and marginalized in segments of society. Rich and Missiongathering work diligently with other progressive religious leaders for equality and respect, especially for LGBT communities.
Sarah Ross //
Co-Founder of #waywire, the current CMO at Backplane, and the founding partner of a marketing company. She was previously the Head of Digital at Katalyst Films and the CMO of TechCrunch. We don’t know what she does in her free time because we don’t know if she has any.
John Bradel //
Vice President for Highland Partnership Inc, a San Diego-based commercial general contractor and design builder. John and his family of seven children have supported Invisible Children from its inception. His daughter Katie was a part of the original core Invisible Children team and spent over two years in Uganda helping to establish the mission effort. John has been a voting member of Invisible Children’s Board of Directors since 2005.
Yosi Sergent //
Co-Founder of TaskForce and a creative producer, community organizer, consultant and project manager on countless projects. His professional experience is incredibly lengthy but we’ll highlight that he is the mastermind behind the Obama “Hope” Campaign. Well done, sir.
Selina Hayes //
Co-founder of the nonprofit Project H.O.W (Helping Other Women) and the current Director for International Business Development for SRA International, working in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Selina has worked with EUCOM and AFRICOM and her most recent work has expanded into Djibouti with the Joint Task Force Horn of Africa (JTFHOA).
Simon Isaacs //
Founder and CEO of GATHER, a high-powered cause-marketing consultancy. Simon’s current and past clients include: Aeras, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, The Coca-Cola Company, The Dow Chemical Company, Future Fortified, Microsoft / Bing, Nothing But Nets, and Rock the Vote. Simon began his career with the United Nations Foundation, where at 23 he raised more than $30 million in corporate partnerships in support of the UN’s disaster and development efforts and played an integral part in launching a $500 million revolving fund for disaster response.
Scot Wolfe //
Founding Chairman of Invisible Children. Scot is the Founder and President of Progressive Copier Systems in San Diego; a 28-year-old family-owned business. He also works with another nonprofit called Chelsea’s Light, dedicated to a 19-year-old girl who was murdered in San Diego a few years ago, and has worked to pass Chelsea’s Law in California. Scot, his wife, and their four children have supported Invisible Children from its inception and traveled to Uganda multiple times.
Jeff Shuck //
Co-founder and CEO of Event 360, which over the last ten years has produced more than 200 fundraising events raising over $700 million dollars from hundreds of thousands of participants and millions of donors. He consults extensively on the peer-to-peer engagement, experiential fundraising, and the link between mission, organizational strategy, and development programs.
