Austin, Texas was very mad recently. The annual technology, film, and music festival SXSW took over the city in all the ways a thing can be taken over. The headquarters of our office were a friend’s living room and a TGI Fridays. As that would indicate, it’s been quite enjoyable and busy.
The team from Invisible Children Music embarked out to Austin for three purposes – 1) Throw a Welcome Home party at Club de Ville with Macbeth Footwear and TerrorEYES for the crew returning from our trip with La Blogothèque featuring Whispertown, Ivan & Alyosha, Lucius, Wild Cub, The Polyphonic Spree, and The Very Best 2) Record special videos in an “Almost Live Series” with some artists we love and 3) Have a generally enjoyable time seeing massively talented musical acts.
The first and third purposes were fulfilled, and this blog begins the finalizing of the second.
On March 14th and 16th, we shot videos with five insanely gifted outfits of people. Today, we’re premiering the first release in our SXSW Almost Live Series.
Noah Gundersen is an office favorite who we were leaping to film. We see him every time he passes through San Diego, and our Roadies stalk him when they’re on tour. Noah’s music is, plainly, just very real. He and his band met us at The Owl in East Austin to perform a very special take on their track “Poor Man’s Son,” accompanied by his sister Abby and his brother Jonathan.
