The film No premiered on limited screens in February 2013 and was nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar at the 85th Academy Awards. The movie centers around René Saavedra, an ad executive in 1988 who comes up with a campaign of upbeat films and promotional material, in hopes to sway the Chilean public to vote ‘No’ on whether General Augusto Pinochet should stay in power for the next eight years. This movie is based on a true story and is part history lesson/part lesson in the power of media in times of struggle.
