Ten schools participated in the fifth annual inter-school volleyball tournament under the theme “Games and Sports Discipline the Mind,” a tournament organized by the Legacy Scholarship Program to provide an outlet for the competitive spirit among the students, preparing them for a competitive world.

With teamwork and perseverance, the players gave it their all, encouraged by their cheering squads along the sidelines of the volleyball pitch inside Pece Stadium.

For the past three years, the girls’ team from Sacred Heart reigned supreme. But this year there was an upset, with Gulu Secondary School girls taking the trophy. Lacor Secondary School also had a first time win in the boys’ category. The two victorious teams took home the winner’s trophies while all the participants received certificates of appreciation for their active participation.

“Through games and sports we are targeting the wider school community where the Legacy Scholarship Program operates,” says Richard Mark a students’ mentor and dedicated chairperson of the sports committee. “Games and sports is important in the lives of the students because it’s through it that they are able to learn how to fulfill and follow rules and regulations, as a result preparing them for the outside world surrounded with policies and laws that govern us all,” he adds.

In addition to games and sports, the Legacy Scholarship Program offers students a chance to participate in extracurricular activities like school debates and academic seminars to support them in building a range of skills.
