This is a seriously good one, world.

British singer/songwriter Clare Maguire stormed onto the music scene in 2010 with her massive debut singles “Ain’t Nobody” and “The Last Dance.” The latter still remains one of the better pop songs of the decade and will always be especially poignant as it serves as a tribute to Michael Jackson. Her first album Light After Dark was chock full of hugely powerful songs, showcasing “The Voice of 2011.”

She’s been teasing new material recently, uploading a demo of a song called “Happy Anniversary” we put on one of our Monday Mini Mixtapes. To hold the world (who is clearly ready to consume more Clare Maguire), she has uploaded another track. This one is a cover of Joni Mitchell’s 1971 classic “The Last Time I Saw Richard.”

It’s a lo-fi, intimate version of the song and it’s time-stopping. It’s already receiving the due love it deserves – some of our favorite music taste-makers and artists have already voiced their approval, and there’s surely more to come.

Judging from this, Clare is teeing up to have a SERIOUS moment in 2013.
