Invisible Children doesn’t stop at documenting atrocities or activating youth or protecting civilians or rehabilitating post-conflict communities. We do it all. Through an integrated four-part model, we address the LRA conflict in its entirety: immediate needs and long-term effects.

After Jason Russell, Laren Poole, and Bobby Bailey encountered the atrocities of Joseph Kony and the LRA on a trip to northern Uganda in 2003, they founded Invisible Children. Over the past decade, IC has strategically created programs that foster recovery, education, and protection of LRA-affected communities through mobilizing youth around the world with the use of media. We are proud that in Fiscal Year 2012, 81.48% of our expenses went to these programs.

Below is a breakdown of the specific programs in our four-part model. If you have questions, we’d love to answer them. Contact us.

Recovery: We work to rehabilitate children directly affected by the LRA and invest in education and economic recovery programs in the post-conflict region to promote lasting peace.

Protection: We work with regional partners to build and expand systems that warn remote communities of LRA attacks and encourage members of the LRA to peacefully surrender.

Mobilization: We mobilize massive groups of people to support and advance international efforts to end LRA atrocities.

Media: We create films to document LRA atrocities, introduce new audiences to the conflict, and inspire global action.
