In case you haven’t heard, Invisible Children launched our newest campaign this week, #zeroLRA. Stand for Nothing, Celebrate Everything. We will stand for no abductions, no killings, no war. With that, we feel that it is equally as important to celebrate everything. Every escape. Every name. Every life.
We believe that every story is important and every life deserves to be celebrated. It’s so easy in today’s world to get bogged down by all the bad things happening that we often forget to celebrate the good things.
Phantogram has a new track out called Celebrate Nothing. The irony. I was intrigued when I heard it and was immediately reminded of our new campaign and the meaning behind it.
“Tell myself I’m fine in celebrating nothing and all the time I waste on celebrating nothing.” We waste so much time talking about the problems and forget to celebrate all of the victories. We have seen a 93% reduction in killings and a 67% reduction in abductions over the last three years and 58 people have already escaped this year. Those are all reasons to celebrate. Every time someone escapes from the LRA deserves a celebration and this time we aren’t forgetting to do that. We are asking that all of our supporters join us.
While I might not totally agree with Phantogram on this one, it certainly made me think and reminded me why I do what I do.
