stacked2Last Friday night we partnered with Soda Bar to Present Kevin Devine and The Goddamn Band. San Diego’s own Spero started the night off, followed by Harrison Hudson from Nashville, TN.

Afterwards, the band Now, Now began setting up and informed the room that due to the tragedy at the Los Angeles Airport, the third member of their group was unable to arrive in time for the show. Bravely, the two performed; with their original sound and engaging rhythms it was hard to notice the band was without their full lineup.

If you’re unfamiliar with Now, Now I recommend you watch the video for their song “Thread”. It was definitely one of my favorite songs of the night.

When they finished, hardly anyone in the crowd around the stage moved from their place. Partly from pure awe of their performance, and partly because everyone was eager to be as close as possible to watch Kevin Devine and the Goddamn Band.

Kevin Devine is an unbelievable songwriter and an equally incredible performer. Playing a lot of songs off of his two latest albums “Bubblegum” and “Bulldozer” with the help of The Goddamn Band, the entire room was captivated. The group’s explosive energy was both contagious and mesmerizing; the music both genuine and convicting.
