halfmilliholdout

Tomorrow we begin our next big Internet event – the Half Milli Holdout for #zeroLRA. You keep hearing the word “holdout,” but what does that even mean? Here is a not-at-all comprehensive but still really-really-exciting list of what is going down during this week’s “holdout.”

The Deets:

When: 10 AM PST on November 20 until midnight PST on November 22

Where:  www.livestream.com/invisiblechildren

Goal: $500,000 towards #zeroLRA by midnight on Friday

Here’s just a taste of everything we’ll be doing:

+ Starting at 10 AM PST on Wednesday, we will be launching a $30,000 matching campaign, courtesy of the amazing human that is Tom Shadyac.

+ Once that $30,000 is out, we begin our next contest – any team or individual can participate. Whoever raises the most money for #zeroLRA from the time the $30,000 matching money is over until Thursday midnight PST will get flown out to San Diego on Friday for the final day of the Half Milli Holdout. If a team wins, they will elect one representative to make the journey.

+ During the entire Half Milli Holdout until we hit $500,000, we will be holding a raffle for a trip to Uganda with us this summer. For every $25 that is donated / raised on your fundraising page, you will get a ticket in the raffle that we will draw at the end of the broadcast on Friday at midnight.

+ Our International Program staff members will share updates from our on-the-ground programs in central Africa.

+ We’ll be hosting nightly fireside singalongs (featuring real fire and real singers).

+ For our French-speaking supporters, two of our employees will be hosting a “Good Morning, France” segment.

+ Thursday and Friday mornings from 8 – 9 AM PST, Movement Director Zach Barrows will be joining us for story time / history quizzes. We’re workshopping the title “Zach From The Past” for this one.

+ At some point on Thursday, our beloved COO Chris Carver will get taped to a wall and forced to answer quickfire questions about sports and business.

+ Did we mention we have a dunk tank on Thursday from noon – 6 PM?

+ For lunch on Friday, Tiffany Keesey, our Human Resource Director, will be teaching us all how to eat a healthy lunch while simultaneously providing professional development advice.

+ Friday at 3 PM, our resident Kiwi will be speaking directly to our supporters from New Zealand and Australia.

And other things that will be occurring:

Office pranks (don’t tell our staff), musical chairs with an extra danger element, bungee suspension so we can Stand For Nothing, Egg Roulette, The Dating Game, supporter spotlights, the Gallon Challenge, and just general merriment.
