Meet future world leader Meredith Hoffman. Though, if you’ve fundraised for our most recent #zeroLRA campaign, went to the Fourth Estate Leadership Summit 2013 or have ever been to Dallas, you probably already know her. Meredith is quite a popular and loved name around the Invisible Children office. Is it because she has raised over $40,000 dollars, she’s a dream supporter or that she is a bubbly ball of energy? Who knows. We think it’s for too many reasons to count.

I interviewed Meredith (we live 2,000 miles away– technology is cool) about her experience with Invisible Children, her take aways and her future.

Hi Meredith. How are you?

Hi! I am doing great.

Tell us a little bit of how you got involved with Invisible Children?

I got involved with Invisible Children in 2011 when Carolyn Oliver invited me to my first screening. That day, I knew that I would do whatever I could to end this war and bring the abducted child soldiers home.

What did you do to help you fundraise so much?

For fundraising, I did many big events to raise the 40k. I held a garage sale, sold reed bracelets, put on a 5k race, went door-to-door fundraising, and got my whole school involved by asking them to each help raise $100 for IC. Over 150 students participated! We also had a dollar-dress-down day at my school.

How much exactly did you fundraise?

Our team raised over $42,000!

What are you most looking forward with your upcoming trip to Uganda? (Besides the fashionable long skirts of course)

I am looking forward to so many things in Uganda! I cant wait to see Geoffrey (an Invisible Children roadie who stayed with my family), hike, sight-see, and see all of the life changing programs that Invisible Children and our fundraising helps make possible.

What’s next for Meredith Hoffman?

  • Currently, I have begun to think more about my career path and how I will spend the rest of my life. Right now, the dream is to go to college and major in global studies and then go to law school, to become an international human rights lawyer. My passion is justice and I am confident that my purpose in life is to help advocate for those who are unable to represent themselves.

So there you have it. Meredith Hoffman, fundraising extraordinaire, future human rights lawyer, and dedicated world changer. join meredith in bringing a permanent end to LRA atrocities by becoming a monthly donor.
