Although we are not on the road with our Warped Tour Roadies, Nathan and Catherine, we still try to keep up to date on all things Warped Tour— including the crazy stuff that happens. For the next few weeks, we will be bringing you the latest highlights from our Warped Tour tent.
Chris Szabo is no stranger to Invisible Children. He was a #zeroLRA Roadie last fall and even sent the intern house a coupon book recently (thank you #unpaidintern). So when he volunteered at our Warped Tour tent in San Antonio, we were excited to see him again.
Chris filled us in on his day volunteering:
I met one girl at the tent who has been to Uganda twice. Another visitor was born in Uganda and her father is Acholi (the ethnic northern Ugandans affected the most by the LRA conflict in Uganda).
I also met two supporters who have been with us since day one and were excited to hear updates on the conflict. Just to know people out there are passionate or curious about us makes our work that much more amazing.
During the day, we collaborated with a photographer from Warped Tour named Adam who is a supporter of our work. He did a meet and greet at our tent and passed out free instant tattoos of his face and bracelets. One kid came up, took two stickers, and spent 15 minutes with his friends putting the stickers on his chest. I was dying from laughter as his friends egged him on to do it. Gotta love music festivals!
Think people should hear about this?
