The LRA Crisis Tracker is a real-time mapping platform and data collection system created to bring an unprecedented level of transparency to the atrocities of the Lord’s Resistance Army. Using information sourced from Invisible Children’s Early Warning Radio Network, UN agencies, and local NGOs, this tool allows for better response from governments, policy-makers, and humanitarian organizations. For real-time updates on LRA attacks, check out LRA Crisis Tracker online, or follow them on Twitter @CrisisTracker.

Between July 30 – August 6, the LRA Crisis Tracker has reported only 1 incident attributable to the LRA. This comes after a month of historically low numbers of LRA attacks. While it has been a quiet period in terms of reported LRA incidents, there are still a number of notable reports from the past few weeks.

On July 23, near Naparka, DRC, a group of 36 LRA looted 25 homes and abducted 2 people. This is significant since most recent LRA attacks have been carried out by small groups and are proportionally small in scale.

On July 31, near Pasi, DRC, a group of 9 LRA forces abducted a man, woman and 12-year-old girl. The assailants also shot a priest in the leg, and proceeded to loot food, money and clothing from the community. A few hours later, the LRA combatants released then man and woman, but the whereabouts of the 12-year-old girl remains unknown.
